Plan For Hot August Nights In Reno 2022
Each summer in Reno Tahoe, the streets come to life during the 1st week of August with classic cars and hot rods. Hot August Nights is one of the area’s longest-running and most popular events, and for good reason. For six straight days, August 2–7, you can catch live music and marvel at the beauty of the cars that take over the city.
Ø Live Music
Dance and sing along to your favorite songs at free concerts held all week at a variety of venues around Reno and Sparks. Kraig Parker is kicking off the event by bringing a world-class Elvis Presley performance to the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino’s outdoor stage on Tuesday, August 2. The fun continues all week with Blood, Sweat & Tears, Blue Oyster Cult and Starship featuring Mickey Thomas.
Hot August Nights wraps up with the modern pop sounds of KC & the Sunshine Band at Grand Sierra Resort and Long Time — A Tribute to the band Boston at the Silver Legacy Plaza outdoor stage in Downtown Reno on Saturday, August 6.
Ø Show-n-Shines and Cruises
The hardest decision when attending Hot August Nights is deciding how to see as many cars as possible! Step out of your Downtown Reno motel to visit The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, and Grand Sierra Resort where daily show-n-shine events are hosted, with awards in a variety of categories. Head to Victorian Square in downtown Sparks for the Ultimate Classic Car Competition presented by the Nugget Casino Resort daily.
Cruise over to Grand Sierra Resort and downtown Reno to check out the Show-n-Shine Competition presented by Summit Racing Equipment. When the sun goes down, you can bet these cars will be cruising in both Reno and Sparks. Victorian Square, downtown Reno and any of the resort casinos are wonderful spots to get an amazing view of the cars.
Ø MAG Auctions
Motorsport Auction Group is a collector car auction featuring muscle cars, street rods, classic cars, and vintage cars. If you are lucky enough to be in the market for one of these classic automobiles, or just a car enthusiast who truly appreciates the art of these beautiful cars, the MAG Auction is an event you do not want to miss.
Some of the featured cars in this year’s auction include 2016 Polaris Slingshot Coupe, a 1927 Ford Model T Track Roadster, a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, and a 1967 Plymouth GTX Coupe. The 2022 MAG Auctions will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, August 4–6, with one-day and 3-day passes available for purchase at the door.
Ø Drag Races and Burnouts
Watch as drivers put some serious pedal to the metal during the Hot August Nights Drag Races & Burnouts, held in the west parking lot of the Nugget Casino Resort. On Wednesday and Thursday, the event will be open to all makes and models, and Friday and Saturday’s races are limited to 1979 and older vehicles.
